What is it?

Both the Macdonald Hotels & Resorts Graduate Programme and Revenue Graduate Programme are designed to create hospitality management professionals through hands-on supervisory, leadership and management experience, across all areas of the hotel business.

If you’re about the graduate this could be the perfect chance to get a guaranteed permanent position and fast track to the top.

 Solid career foundation

With a dedicated mentor to support and assist your learning and a guaranteed permanent position on completion, our Graduate Programmes provide a solid foundation in hospitality management.

Graduate Programme overview

Our 18-month programme is split into three phases, each covering key sectors of the hospitality business:

September to January - Food and Beverage

You’ll learn the ropes in restaurant, conference, banqueting and bar. We’ll demonstrate the importance of great food in the business: from breakfast, lunch and dinner through to room service. Plus we’ll teach you what it takes to deliver an outstanding conference and banqueting operation and all the etiquette around service delivery.

February to September - Housekeeping, Maintenance, Reception and Sales Office

Learning how to keep a steady ship afloat involves understanding areas behind the scenes as well as customer facing roles. Here you’ll learn how efficiency and systems impact on the success of the business.

October to March - Four months in your choice of Accounts, Revenue, Sales or Leisure and Spa

In addition to fine-tuning your experience, we’ll undertake appraisals and applications/interviews in this phase ready for your final, permanent position.

What is the Revenue Graduate Programme?

It’s another 18-month programme but this time to specifically create our Revenue Managers of the future. Revenue Management is an essential function for a hotel group of size. The principles of supply and demand pricing strategies can be found in many industries - such as airlines, utility and telephony groups - and are core to the success of hotel groups.

The central revenue function for Macdonald Hotels is based in Birmingham, at Macdonald Burlington Hotel, where the pricing strategies, forecasting and reporting for all Macdonald Hotels & Resorts takes place.
